Hello everyone! My name is Linda Medina and I am a first year graduate student in CSULB’s School Psychology program this year. I am super excited to be here and I am grateful to be surrounded by lovely people. I anticipated my first few months at CSULB to be hectic and stressful. However, I am pleased to say that it has been a smooth transition for me. Thanks to my cohort members, faculty, and SPSA, I have had a great first semester here at The Beach! I am also extremely happy to be on the grant. I am definitely looking forward to getting assigned to a local school and to go to the NASP Convention next year. A special note to anyone that is considering applying to the program: Do it! You will not regret it! GO BEACH AND SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY!
The first year of grad school can be horrible, or it can be pleasant. We’d like to hope it will be the latter for the new cohort. A list of insider tips have been compiled to help the first years with their new graduate school life. Please consider these tips seriously as these are things we second years wish we knew and things that worked for us during that initial year of pure joy.
As you can see, there are some tips that overlap a bit, but that means those are very important! Enjoy your first year in graduate school! :)
Here are the details of our 1st SPSA meeting:
When: September 5th at 6pm
Where: In front of The Beach Hut
(NEXT to the library, not at the actual library like this child assumes..)
Hope to see you all there! We’re gonna talk about upcoming events, ideas for potential events, and we’ll throw in a little socializing too! Come and see what SPSA has to offer, pitch in your 2 cents, meet your mentor/mentee and other students in the program, and have fun!
