Meet our Faculty
Dr. Kristi Hagans
Kristi Hagans, Ph.D., NCSP, is professor of school psychology at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) where she teaches courses in the school psychology and teacher education programs; serves on a variety of department, college, and university committees; and conducts applied research in schools. Courses taught include Introduction to School Psychology, Advanced Assessment for Intervention, Positive Behavior Supports, Research Methods, and practica and internship supervision. Her research and practice interests include implementation of Mutitiered Systems of Support (MTSS), behavioral and instructional consultation to improve outcomes for students, and the use of general outcome measures to increase delivery of effective instruction and student achievement. Dr. Hagans is a co-principal investigator on two Office of Special Education Programs, U. S. Department of Education grants to train school psychologists to provide multi-tiered support to culturally and linguistically diverse students, and serves as the evaluator on a third OSEP grant on training school psychologists and special education teachers on providing culturally-responsive transition services. Prior to her appointment at CSULB, Kristi Hagans worked as a school psychologist in public schools in both Oregon and California. |
Dr. Kerri Knight-Teague
Kerri Knight-Teague, Ph.D., NCSP, is an assistant professor of school psychology at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). She is also the program coordinator for the school psychology program. She received her B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach, and received her M.A. and Ph.D. in school psychology from the University of California, Riverside. Her research interests include: Utility of school assessment practices, particularly for culturally and linguistically diverse students, implementation of evidence-based practices in PK-12 schools, multi-tiered systems of supports, and training and professional development. |
Dr. Kristin Powers
Kristin Powers, Ph.D., NCSP is professor of school psychology at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). She is Co-PI of three OSEP funded training grants that provides stipends to school psychology students who receive extensive clinical and school-based training in multi-tiered system of services (MTSS). Dr. Powers is director of the Community Clinic for Counseling and Educational Services (formerly Educational Psychology Clinic) that provides clinical training to graduate students. She is also co-author of a popular text book on Collaborative Consultation in the Schools. |
